Good bye Joey
If you have read the beginning of my blog you can see that I’m devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. For those of you who are not familiar with the Pittsburgh Steelers, if you were to look up the best football team EVER, well… the result would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anyways, my favorite player Joey Porter has been cut to make room for the salary cap (the total amount of money a team can spend on players). This happens often in the NFL, but MY favorite player for my team has never been released. I am an emotional train wreck. I can’t picture him playing for another team; it would be like seeing a member of my family raped!
Joey was the emotional leader and defensive co-captain of the Steelers defense and always played with passion. Joey Porter is so dedicated to playing football that back in 2003 he was shot in September, missed the first two weeks of the regular season, only to return a few weeks after being shot. Porter was by far the most outspoken player on the Steelers roster and possibly the NFL, known for talking shit before and after games and publicly criticizing the Bush administration. Joey talked the talk and walked and was named “Most feared player in the NFL” by Sports Illustrated magazine.
Joey is one of my favorite Steelers players of all time and next season will not be the same with out him, and to make matters worse, I now have to buy a new jersey. But if I could say something to Joey, this is what I would say. (I know this sounds gay)
Joey I will really miss you and hope you go on to do great things for other teams, as long as it’s not the Steelers. Good luck in the fee agent market and thank you for all the good times.

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss. Second of all, I don't ever watch football so I didn't know about Joey Porter but because of your blog I did some research. I read a lot about his controversial mouth. Some of his comments were ignorant and some where brilliant! I even found an article about his dogs' attitude. I'd have to say that Joey Porter and his dog are very scary, yet somehow likable.
Is he too old or something? Perhaps the Steelers will pick up some young talent in the next draft.
I would agree that it was a hit to have Joey Porter just released, but thats what happens when a new head coach comes in. Have you heard anything about relationship strains between him and the new coach?
You mentioned he was cut to make room under the salary cap, he was due to make a 1 million dollar bonus on March 6th and was only scheduled to make 4 million in 2007.
But I also think the Dolphins are crazy. Not for signing him, he's only 29. Well actually he's turning 30 March 22nd but whatever. But giving him 20 million dollars in guarenteed money. The deal he signed was for five years worth 32 million, 20 of which is guarenteed. 12 million in a signing bonus and another 8 million just handed over.
Could be iffy after a year or two, if he only plays two good years he made 10 million a year no matter what. Football is crazy.
Check out this link about the greatest Super Bowl teams in history. Who's number one?

Maybe if you like football so much, you should play fantasy football. While you're there, be sure to pick up Frank Gore. He's awesome.
You'd better be careful about what you write in your blog. You wouldn't want to offend homosexuals or rape victims, would you?
